I’ve booked my venue, now what?

You’re off to a great start!

You’ve booked one of the biggest items on your to-do list. Your venue. So, now you’ve got your venue and date set, you might be thinking now what… So, take a little read of my tips below to help you work out what to do next.

Stop and take a breather

If you haven’t already, now you have your venue and date, make a list of the other key suppliers you’re looking to book. I’m thinking…
  • Officiant (Religious, Celebrant or Registrar)
  • Photographer
  • Florist
  • Venue Styler
  • DJ/Musician
  • Cake Maker
  • The list goes on…
  • Now you have a list – do your research!

Research your suppliers in detail. By that I mean don’t just Google them. Have a look at their website, take a look at their social media, check out their reviews. You’re spending your hard earned money, so you want to make sure you choose the right suppliers for you.

Make a shortlist of 2-3 suppliers in each category and reach out to them. Check they’re available on your date and ask if you can talk to them if possible. You will be working with your suppliers closely, so you want to click with them and know that you can trust them. So getting on the phone or a video call is so important.

Now you can think what else

Once the key suppliers are worked out. You can now think of the ones you might want to book, depending on your budget. Everyone is different, so even some of the key suppliers aren’t essentials. Remember, it is your wedding day – so you do you! Examples may include:

  • Videographer
  • Stationery Designer
  • Signage
  • Transport
  • Make Up Artist
  • Hair Stylist
  • The list goes on – it’s the wedding industry, so anything really is possible!
  • Remember, don’t stress

It is your wedding day. So don’t stress about what others’ might expect. It is your day, so make sure that everything you do is a reflection of your personalities. Don’t feel the external pressure that inevitably will be put on you. Ignore what your Aunt is saying she’d do differently or your friend wants to wear instead of what you’ve chosen. It’s your day. Do it your way.
